IDAHO:
Treasure Valley Rug Hookers (Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Id) had been an unaffiliated group for decades, we decided in 2001 to associate ourselves with The Pearl K.McGown Guild. Our members enjoy all styles of rug hooking, and many of us oscillate between hooking wide cuts to more medium cuts. We hold occasional group lessons on topics of interest and enjoy demonstrating the craft of rug hooking to the public when there is an event that welcomes us. We are looking forward to hosting the Hooked on Fairy Tales exhibit in July of 2023. We welcome any current or new hookers to join us at one of our meetings, the first and third Saturdays of each month, 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. We are glad to get newbies started. Our meetings change location so please contact Susan Elcox for current meeting place.

NEW YORK:
Pearl McGown Rughookrafters Guild of the Southern Tier, McGown Guild Chapter #1 – Vestal, New York
The #1 Guild celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022 as the first McGown chapter formed by two teachers, Helen Moore and Peg Schneider of Vestal, New York at Pearl McGown’s urging. The members meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month except July and August at the Vestal United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (With some variation.)
Meetings usually include a special program, a time for a “Show & Tell” of finished projects, and time for fellowship among our hooking friends. Instructors and members are invited to further their “hooking skills,” whether it is color planning, hooking techniques and/or learning new ideas. We bring our lunch and the members provide desserts. New or experienced hookers are welcome. We have a yearlyMay “HOOK OUT”, (Actually June 13th in 2023) at “Sky Lake” (a local church camp) for the day with a catered lunch and enjoy the beautiful lake setting.
Many members of the group meet on the other Tuesdays at the church to simply enjoy hooking together. See contacts below to be sure of any changes to the schedule.
Every other year we have a two day Rug Show at the Church, open to the public for “free.” The next show is planned for November 3-4, 2023. The theme is “Past & Present”.
We are fortunate to have several Pearl McGown teachers as members in our Guild: Nancy MacLennan, Gail Kirch, and Betsy Sarver. Claire de Roos is no longer hooking but is a lifetime member of our Guild. Come join us. We have a wonderful time.
